A CE-500 Type Rating qualifies you to PIC (Pilot in Command) the Citation 500, 501, 550, 551 & 560. Cessna uses the names: Citation, Citation SP, V, Ultra, Encore & Bravo for Citations requiring a CE-500 type rating. Co-pilot (if required) qualifications requires a minimum of a Private, Multi engine & Instrument ratings. Compare the costs and schedules in a simulator based school (i.e. Flight Safety International, Simuflight, etc). They will charge about $17,000 and require 14 days minimum and must be done at their location! If you do the check ride in their simulator there will be an hourly restriction on your rating as well.
Our professional instructors can train you one-on-one to obtain your type rating in a minimum of 3 days (usually an add-on type rating). More days will be required only if needed. Prepare at home (home study) or learn the systems with us and fly the necessary maneuvers with our instructor for CE-500 type rating endorsement! We have a 100% pass rate. As with any type rating check ride you will need knowledge and demonstrate: Systems (fuel, hydralics, flight controls, electrical, anti-ice, de-ice, brakes, etc) knowledge, memory items, aircraft limitations, flying approaches, steep turns, stalls, various system failures (no flap landings, etc) and V1 cuts during takeoff are necessary to obtain a type rating. If you don't have an ATP rating, bring a competed written test for the check ride as all manuvers are done to ATP standards. A commerical license is highly recommended as the minimum with an instrument and multiengine rating. We also have a friendly Designated Pilot Examiner available for the check ride. So how much for a type rating? The minimum time/cost for an experienced jet pilot could be as low as $3300.00 using your aircraft. If you have a Citation to train and do the check ride in, here is what you can expect the cost to be. Form FAA8710 (endorsement): - $600.00 x 3 (daily instruction rate)
Check Ride: Total = $3300.00 for a CE-500 type rating (no restrictions). Repeat, these numbers are a sample for an jet experienced pilot. Your cost could will probably be higher. If this is your initial (first) type rating, expect 4 to 5 days class room and 1-2 days flying the aircraft. Also if you use a simulator based school for your initial type rating there will be restrictions. The FAA will require you to have a minimum of 25 hours with a CE-500 captain of Initial Operating Experience (IOE) in order to activate the rating! |
